Happy summer everyone!
I’ve been busy creating new video tutorials for my dollhouse projects, and today I’m excited to share 3 different hinge options for creating spinning doors and windows. Each method offers a unique approach, so you can choose the one that best suits your project and materials.
In this article, you’ll find:
- A quick overview of each hinge type
- Links to video tutorials on my Instagram and YouTube channels for detailed instructions
- Links to purchase materials (optional)
Ready to get started? Let’s explore these creative hinge options!
1. Simple Mini Hinges:
Looking for a quick and convenient solution? Mini hinges are readily available online and in craft stores. Since my dollhouse is made of cardboard, I prefer attaching these hinges with glue for a secure bond. You can see an example of this method in my “Autumn Cafe” project video below:
2. Wire Hinges:
This ingenious technique uses hard wire. It’s a budget-friendly and versatile option for creating spinning doors and windows of all sizes. Check out the video below for an example from my latest brick house project. For optimal results with wire hinges, a wooden or harder material frame is recommended:
3. Tube and Wire Hinges:
This method is fantastic for smaller furniture pieces and doors. It allows for a more delicate hinge while still providing functionality. The example below demonstrates how I used this technique for a tiny stove door (approximately 1.5 x 2 cm). I also used this method for a miniature iron gate, but haven’t uploaded that video yet.
