Creativity & Growth: My Mid-2024 Check-in

Halfway through 2024 already? Time flies when we’re having fun (and creating awesome miniature artwork)! I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the first half of the year and share some exciting things I’ve learned and experienced.

1. Level Up Our Marketing Game:

This year, I took an online digital marketing course specifically for promoting miniature artwork. It was a real eye-opener! One of the biggest takeaways was adjusting my expectations about follower numbers.

Building Awareness is Key:

No matter what stage we’re at, especially when we’re just starting out, getting people to notice our work is important. Think of it like a funnel – awareness is always the first step. Even for established businesses, brand awareness remains crucial . This is why so many creators emphasize the importance of consistently putting ourselves out there and showcasing our work.

Fans Join the Journey:

The path to becoming a fan can be different for everyone. Take me for example! I love this one singer, but I wasn’t an instant fan. Sure, I knew he was talented, but it wasn’t until he started showing more of his personality and collaborating with other artists that I truly connected with him. This experience reminds me that people join our creative journeys at different points for various reasons. Sometimes, it just takes time. The key? Keep creating and sharing!

2. Finding My Rhythm:

The first half of the year was also about making adjustments and finding a healthy balance. I’ve learned to listen to my body and recognize when it needs a break. Forcing ourselves to work when we’re tired isn’t helpful – in fact , it can actually make us less productive.

Social Media Strategies:

The marketing course also reinforced the importance of social media. However, I’ve adjusted my expectations here as well. Now, our focus is on:

  • Increasing Awareness: Posting regularly and consistently.
  • Building Connections: Engaging with our audience, other artists, and learning from feedback.
  • Keeping the Creative Flow Going: Continuing to create and share our work.

Finding Our Platforms:

I’ve also discovered a way to leverage different platforms that feels comfortable for us, not just chasing numbers. Here’s a quick breakdown:

  • Instagram: Weekly mini-tutorials and progress updates. I welcome feedback!
  • Pinterest: One high-quality photo per pin, showing both the process and details to attract viewers.
  • YouTube: Project summaries or sneak peeks.
  • Website: My creative home base, where I share the latest updates. I have some exciting plans for this platform later in the year – stay tuned!

3. The Journey Continues:

Looking forward to the second half of 2024, I’m excited to:

  • Keep Learning: Continue taking online marketing courses.
  • Create More Mini Dollhouses: New projects are already in the works!

Learning new things is a fantastic way to overcome challenges. The marketing course completely changed my approach to social media, and learning from other artists has refined my creative process and sparked inspiration. I can’t wait to see where my miniature world takes us by the end of the year!

Thanks for joining me on this journey! See you soon.
